Healing the Sick
agape in action - quiche, guatemala - The purchase of a mobile ultrasound unit
Agape in Action serves to bring the love of Christ to those in need through medical care and evangelism. Our mission is to care for physical ailments and to go beyond the stethoscope to minister to the spiritual and emotional needs of the indigenous Mayan people of Guatemala. We accomplish this by medical ministry outreach in rural villages and by supporting hospitals, clinics and missionary partners.
The people they serve have gone through numerous difficulties including the devastating civil war which inflicted numerous casualties on the people of the Quiche region. By providing a high standard of medical care, Agape in Action shows the oppressed people of the region that they are important and valuable. Along with medical care, the Agape in Action team partners with local pastors to share the Gospel of Jesus to the many villages in around the main city. During these outreach times, medical clinics are setup to provide services while teams may also build beds or cook stoves for local widows.
In their many medical clinics, the team of doctors provide ultrasound services to those that need them. During our conversations with their leaders, the need for a new, or newer portable ultrasound machine was expressed. Their current machine is at the point of not working more than it actually works which has limited the quality of care they can provide. Agape in Action doctors see about 1,000 patients each month and having a working ultrasound unit allows them to provide lifesaving care to expecting mothers and their children that they would not normally get due to the cost of an ultrasound in other clinics.
So for January through April 2019, we want to raise $10,000 to help Agape in Action purchase a portable ultrasound machine! Please join us in a partnership that provides physical care for the sick which then gives a strong bridge for the spiritual love of Jesus to be preached.
